Good news though,
I go to Ireland, specifically Dublin, next Wednesday for a week off stressing about not having a job. YAY!

A day (and night) in the Netherlands.
Well the netherlands was a bit of a mission. First I caught the wrong train at the platform. Naively I assumed that the train that turned up was a little early and would soon be departing for my destination. When it departed 5 minutes too soon, I thought sh*t. I scoffed my sandwich and chips (dinner) it a stressed panic then asked the girl across from me whether I was on the wrong train. Yep, shit..... No worries though, its only going to Amsterdam Central which is 15 mins away, at this point I'm already picturing the fact that I when I eventually get back I'll have to board 3 different trains without failure to make my destination (thank goodness I'd got train schedules off the net!!) So I DO make it back, jump again on a WRONG train, this time ask if I'm on the right train, NOPE, righto get off and learn to read the flutterboards (really can't remember what they've called) and work out that my train is the next one. Little hint, they've not oververly helpful with information so read what stops it goes to and Ureka finally make the right train.
1:30am make my hotel, shit no iron, sort that one in the morning, climb into comfy bed with comfy pillow and off to sleep.
Make it to Quintiq on time the next day after managing to borrow an iron from reception. 3 interviews later and I'm heading into the 3 hour test. shit shit shit. No idea what hes talking about half the time and completely bomb the test...
I think all is lost and reluctantly try and sound enthused at the end of day interview (yes another one). He says my abilities obviously (ha) don't lie in the technical side, but they think I would make a good consultant. However exactly where I would fit is a bit of a question mark, so here I am at home in London drinking too much cider and wondering if they really well call next week...
Who wants to live in the netherlands anyway?.....
I did make it back to the airport ok, and managed to have just a salad and apple for dinner although craving something hot. I just couldn't bring myself to BK.

Unmotivated
It sortof feels like I'm just waiting for stuff to happen. I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get a job in the next week or so.
We had friends from home here in the wkend, they've been doing a 12 day topdeck tour so with them and sam and libby, this place was party central on friday! Until I started crying at least cos they're all going home. sob.
No it was fun, its really wierd to be all on the other side of the world together drinking. And boy did we drink a lot!
Tomorrow I fly to the netherlands for my interview, hmmmm should be interesting. I got sent the schedule for the day and I have a 3 hours (!!!) test at 2, followed by a terms of employment interview at 5 if I pass. Freak!
Such a beautiful day here today and I'm on the couch still in my pj's.
I did hear back about the interview I went to last Friday, I've got a 2nd interview next week. Surely someone will offer me a job...

Lost in London
Well its been a while since I've written anything but since I am officially a bum (can't get a job) then why not journal whats been happening.
A 3 month stint around Europe where Spain and Turkey were the voted hightlights, we rocked into London to find somewhere to live and some moolah to live on. One month later we have our humble abode with a kiwi couple, greg has a job working on trains, but I still sit on the couch. Good news though is that I do have an interview on friday followed by one on monday in the netherlands. Just when I was getting ready to top myself (no not reallyyyy) they came along. I might have to revert back to the topping myself plan if they don't pan out but crossed fingers.
On other news, we went out with sam and libby yesterday who are friends from home for a day of crazy sightseeing. We had great fun re-enacting the beetles on abbey roads pedestrian crossing, and trying to prove we really are wizards by pushing the trolley through platform 9 3/4 (my wizardry has temporarily lost its touch), whizzing around paintings at the tate britain, laughing hysterically with "watch the crack" at tate modern, etc etc yesterday. It was a really great day, slightly hampered by the weather which stopped our main goal of the day, to go on the london eye!!! Bugger.
Sam and Libby had been staying here for a couple of days and when they left last night I just felt really really sad. They go home next monday and I'm simultaneously homesick and not really wanting to go home. They're good friends and I do wish they were staying longer. I've been trying to think about this homesick thing, not really understanding it. Its not like I love Auckland but I do miss the coromandel, I miss friends, I miss riding motorbikes, I miss earning money. If I did go home though, I would just be going back to my old job and nothing would really change. I know the grass is always greener and if I went home I would want to be back here, sshshh some people are never happy!!
Today the grand plan is a whole lot of nothing, might apply for some jobs, go for a wander (saw a fox the other day!!), go grocery shopping, jack up plans for next monday in the netherlands and tidy up. Oh the excitement I can't bear....
